Minutes of the June 2011 meeting of the Fort Smith Area Amateur Radio Club

The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by President Royce Rainwater

Repeater Update

The 444.5 machine is working and will be up soon. The 444.3 machine still needs some repair.

Club Van & Trolley Museum Event

Treasurer Rick Deaton reported that finishing touches are being made to the van including cleaning the boom and other details. Two people are able to sit and operate inside and there is good insulation to block outside noise. The van made set up at the trolley museum event on Sunday, June 5, much easier. We had a good location at the event and were able to make 30 contacts. Several people came by to visit.

Shirts

Steve Rutherford does not have samples of the shirts yet. It is a busy time for the vendor and we should have the samples at the next meeting.

Field Day – Sat. & Sun, June 25 & 26 at Bell Park in Greenwood

President Royce Rainwater appointed Dr. Charles Floyd to be the chairman of the committee to submit all 2011 field day logs to ARRL. Mike Cole gave an update on logistics and plans for volunteers working various stations were finalized. The Community Emergency Management Team trailer needs work and will be there if it can be fixed. Set up is 7:30 a.m. on Friday morning and volunteers that help set up will be provided a meal about mid day. The club is paying for the fuel, ice, water and drinks and everyone needs to keep receipts. He has arranged for barbecue and fixings for the Saturday evening meal at 6 p.m. It will cost $248 for 50 people. We charged $10 per person last year. Mike Bell made a motion to allocate $248 for the club to pay the meal for individuals working the field day event. The motion was seconded, voted on and passed. There was one opposed vote. There was discussion about possibly offering the meal to only paid members but that would require more logistics. The group mutually agreed that not many people are working the event late on Saturday and people not working the event will not be invited.

Mike Bell made a motion to adjourn the meeting. It was seconded, voted on and passed. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
